FORGET 'NATIONALISM'
________________________

'Nationalism is a man-made device to keep people separate.'

'Nationalism breeds war.'

'Nationalism is the flag-waving of the masses.'

Peter K. Sharpen

I have never been able to come to terms with the notion of 'Nationalism'. It seems to me to be an unsavoury principle. And I ask the questions: What is its use? Why does it happen.?

The world is populated by a creature (one of many animals) that we call Man. Now, for a start, that includes Women as well, let's understand that. Let's also understand that when I use the word 'Man' (for simplicities sake) that it also includes 'Woman', and leave it at that.

So the world is inhabited by this creature called Man/Woman. Wherever he came from is not the discussion here. He exists on most of the planet where it is habitable by him (but not always). He developed according to his location, temperate or not temperate.

Thus his development was due to his circumstance of potential survival. That is all that matters, still, even in what we call this day and age.

The world, apparently, is divided into areas which we know of as countries, regions and so forth. This, I assume is that certain groups preferred, for their own survival to live there. If you lived in a land that was mostly sunshine, you developed a skin, facial features, stature etc. suitable for that environment. If you lived in a colder climate, you developed a skin, facial features, stature etc. suitable for that environment, and so on.

We now have a diversity of skin colouring and so forth; same animal, different skin colour etc.

Because of the conditions in which we existed, we developed skills appropriate for that region. Thereby began the diversity of humans as-a-whole.

As the populations grew, the diversities (because of the nature of sexual reproduction) grew more and more diverse.

Man tends towards groups of some kind which is part of a survival mechanism because hunting in a group became more successful than the lone hunter.

Most of the original animal population we call Man was nomadic.  That is to say, they wandered from place to place to hunt and gather and make (temporary) homes. If conditions were suitable for a longer stay, then that happened.  The temporary camps became what we might call settlements. If these settlements were fairly successful, then others might want to join them, or if aggressive, they might want to take it away from the settlers. Thus might have been the notion of defences. One would naturally want to defend against marauders/plunderers and so forth. This is natural. Man is, when settled in one conducive place, territorial.

So territories developed. These, as they grew naturally larger became what we know as regions, then countries, then nations and so on.

All animals have a pecking order of some kind. This notion was developed from observation of other animals. However, this notion has been bastardised by Man and has resulted in our present situation.

In any 'society' there are all the varieties you can imagine, from the weak to the strong. The weakness may be anything (not always negative) and the strong may be anything (not always positive) that you can imagine. But you can be weak and strong depending on the circumstance/s at a particular time and place. Such is the nature of language.

Positive people are non-bullies. Negative people are bullies. From non-bullies to bullies, their is, of course, a continuum.

It seems that Man needs some form of identity. He may usually develop an identity within the group in which he resides. This is natural, in a way. It is the identity which is a worry when we come to bullies. However, some men do not need this identity. These people are often known as 'outsiders'. However, they can and do integrate within the society in which they live.

Bullies are controllers. Bullies are weak on their own personal identity. Bullies are usually physically stronger than non-bullies and therein lies their (apparent) power over others. However, they rely on the 'others' to provide them with a means of bullying, otherwise they have nothing to do. Bullies, however, rarely have the mental power or survival skills of non-bullies, so they are really at the mercy of non-bullies. Some are clever enough to convince others, otherwise but that is a weakness of others to not realise this. These people are their own worse enemy.

Non-bullies, on the other hand, do not wish to control. These are what we call the 'salt of the earth'. They do their best as possible for everyone (even the bullies). When W.T. Stead said: 'Be a Christ, not a Christian', this is what he meant. Non-bullies get on with their lives of survival and are producers. Bullies are non-producers. I'm not going into the semantics of producing mayhem.

Slight digression.

From an astronomical/historic point of view, the Earth is much more stable than it was when Man first walked the planet. There were many more 'cosmic events' than there are now. And remember that Man did not inhabit regions far  from near the equator. The whole universe has shifted; the stars and planets (some quite recently captured) and the earth as now is not what it was then. We cannot conceive it.

The evidence of 'cosmic events' is apparent in the similarity of arts and crafts from all over the earth; these are the derivations of the 'gods'. 'Gods' are explanations of cosmic events that happened in the past. It is a fascinating study. The notion is: Something did (whatever it was) and we can't explain it, so we call it something. We do not know their language but they may have said 'Thor' when a lightning bolt struck dead their animals or their houses. Thus 'Thor' became the 'lightning' god.

Many other 'gods' followed because of circumstances beyond any sort of local control. These people were people. They were not 'sophisticated' (as many even today are not), they were survivors and wanted to be.

Of course these 'gods' were around every day, from the beginning, of course was the 'sun' god in many varieties, depending where you lived. Jesus was, of course, another incarnation of the sun god later in history.

End of digression.

So the small became the many in settlements. Those who remained nomadic travelled in much smaller groups and continued foraging for their living. Some did this as non-bullies, others (the bullies) chose to rape and pillage; these are what we call bandits. They don't do much except take from others. You can easily see this today in whatever 'society' you live in.

Now, the pecking order in original settlements would have been in the need of a co-ordinator; someone with the skills of getting everybody to work together for the benefit of the whole group. This would have been a form of meritocracy; those who can make shirts, make shirts, those who can breed, breed and so on. Those who can co-ordinate, co-ordinate. Each was valued according to his skills. Those who were, for some reason, incapable of very much at all, were looked after by everyone.

Now a co-ordinator does just that. Rules would have developed within the settlement so that everyone was as happy as they could be. If a disaster occurred, then everyone 'mucked in'. There was general agreement that this was this and that was that. Anyone who stepped over the line was brought back into line by the whole group.

As settlements grew, these 'rules' may have been more difficult to enforce. Thus the requirement for stricter measures against those who side-stepped the rules. There wasn't (and still shouldn't) have been room for 'Laws' because these are made by bullies. Bullies can't handle agreement, they have to enforce non-agreement usually with/by some form of violence (physical or mental). We therefore, apparently acquire 'Leaders' and not co-ordinators. It was once said that there are no born leaders, only born followers. This dictum I hold to be true. The problem with most of us is that we do not need leaders only people who are as reasonable as us. The co-ordinators gradually disappeared, most often by deceit.

Unfortunately, the bullies seek to inherit the earth and they are so far succeeding. They have turned the settlement into their world of greed and living off the backs of others. They needed the gods of the people to exercise their Right of Might to conquer the hearts and souls of their fellows.

So these bullies (and now law-makers) developed the god-worship for their own ends. No longer the naïve (and perfectly understandable worship of something inexplicable) but a manufactured belief that there really was something 'out there' that controlled people's lives.

So the robes, incantations and other paraphernalia began. Cleverly devised, the bullies (with nothing else to do) coerced others (who were doing all the work) into their way of 'thinking'.

Thus religions were born. Very sadly, in my view.

As settlements grew larger, now with a 'religion', so did the notion of the place where they lived. It had to have a name. Man has a propensity for naming things. So the land occupied became 'Somewhere'. It became whatever the ancient lands were called into what they are called now.

The bullies 'grand scheme' was coming to fruition.

The settlements began a thesaurus of other names ending up with 'Nations'. The 'Nations' needed an identity all could see. Thus were invented flags, icon and other identifying paraphernalia.

Feeling good about themselves because others (bullies) had shown them the way, the masses (apart from our 'outsiders') yelled in glee. They began to believe they were somebodies. And over time, they identified themselves, not with their common ground, but with the symbols that had been produced.

Therein lie their downfall. They were no controlled by forces they could not counter. They became slaves to the bullies through their religion and the politics of bullies.

Communication was always limited in a settlement but it did not matter, because they were small and everyone knew what everyone else was doing. As the settlements grew larger, there were those whose skills provided them with the means to disseminate information from one end of the settlement to the other.

Oh, yez, he cried,
Clanging his bell.
Did you know that all is well,
Except poor Mary's cow has died.

Once, however, the bullies had taken over, they took over the dissemination of information. They could add or subtract from a truth. So was the invention of propaganda, dis-information, lying by omission and finally outright untruths.

So here we are today.

You cannot control small groups. These are the insurgents. Sometimes they are manic, most often only defending their survival as their own group not wanting to be part of others' groups.

Man's diversity will win over the bullies, eventually.  No 'Nationalism', no New World Order, no 'European Union', or whatever, will work for long. Rest assured.

No 'god' will help you either, whatever you believe. However, if the notion of a 'god' helps you in some way, far be it for me to dissuade you.

Life is natural health (mind, body and spirit); there is no other.

All this fake stuff about borders, countries, nations and such-like is flavoured with the flags, the notion of 'patriotism' or religion or 'politics' and all the other paraphenalia of a few psychopathic bandits, who, frankly, have no 'right' to existence.
